Within contour drawing comes the essence of observation. The contour line is a line that defines the outline of an object. A contour drawing does not include details such as shading, although there is a form that does.
You will concentrate on the outer form or outline of the object and draw slowly and steadily to capture this form. You will learn to draw expressive thin and thick lines and lost and found lines to capture movement and light.
In this two-day workshop, you will study blind contour drawing, pure contour drawing, closed contour drawing, open contour drawing, cross contour drawing, and, if time permits, contour drawing with shading.
Contour drawing is usually a study for a more completed form of art making such as painting or long-form drawing, but it often becomes a work of fine art in its own right, so learn to see, learn to do contour. Supply list to follow registration.
