I have been a student at the Atelier since it opened. It is an incredible place. I don’t have natural artistic ability but with the help and encouragement of Todd and his talented staff, I have painted several paintings that I’m proud of. All of the instructors are not only exceptional artists but also warm and patient….. a clear reflection of Todd. Todd has created a community of wonderful teachers and students, eager to learn. It is the most welcoming atmosphere and I look forward to my weekly classes. In addition to Todd, I’ve painted under the supervision of Tim. He gives incredibly helpful feedback and is very generous and patient in his approach to teaching. I look forward to taking classes with Tim. If you’re looking for great art classes, this is the go to place!

I'm taking the painting class - I've never painted before and since this is my first time I was a bit nervous. However, the way the instruction is laid out you go through stages of the painting and don't really move on until you master each stage - people can't believe it's my first painting! All the teachers are amazing and the studio provides a great atmosphere. People can't wait to get to class.

Beautiful facility and top notch instruction. We felt very welcome and my teen is falling in love with painting in spite of her initial hesitation. Very supportive instructors. I love the quality of the student's work and a variety of skill levels.

My wife attended the Paint Your Partner at Atelier and brought along another couple. I will be the first to say painting is not my strong suit and Todd and Ashley were so helpful and made all of us feel comfortable. Todd offered great suggetions and showed me how to improve/rescue my painting :) We all had so much fun and the studio is such a warm and welcoming space. It almost feels as if you are at someone's house. The tour afterwards was great. Amazing to see the works of so many talented students. I was shocked when I learned that some of the artwork on display was the second or third piece the students have completed. There is hope for all of us!!! Would highly recommend!

I've taken art classes at a top CA-based art atelier and many continuing education art classes at top colleges. I have been taking classes at the Atelier School of Art in Royal Oak since last year. I can absolutely say that Todd Burroughs (the wonderful artist, teacher and leader of this atelier) has put together a world-class level art school - while at the same time - keeping it approachable to anyone from any skill level (or even no level). His staff and cadre of instructors are second-to-none. This is the most welcoming art school environment that I have ever encountered. There is no judgement here - only support, guidance and inspiration. From elementary student up to older adults - this art atelier has something of value for you. Highly recommended!
