Year-Round After-School Art Classes for Elementary Students in Royal Oak

Class Time (1): Sept. 9th! Mondays from 4:30-6:30pm

Class Time (2): Ongoing, Thursdays from 4-6pm (FULL, waitlist available)

Class Time (3): Sept. 7th! Ongoing, Saturdays from 10-12pm

Tuition: Member: $247, Non Member: $286 every four weeks.

Newly enrolled students begin on the first day of class each month.

Our Elementary Art Classes in Royal Oak, MI are designed for children in grades K–5 (approximately ages 5–11) who want to explore drawing, painting, and mixed media in a supportive, small-group setting. Each weekly session encourages personal expression and creative risk-taking, with instruction tailored to each student’s skill level from complete beginners to kids with some art experience. Classes meet after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with a Saturday morning option as well making it easy for families across Royal Oak, Birmingham, Ferndale, and the wider Detroit Metro area to find a time that fits. When your child is ready to advance, check out our Teen Studio for ages 13–17. All art materials are included in the tuition, so your child just needs to show up ready to create. Newly enrolled students begin on the first Monday of each month. Spots fill quickly, so we recommend registering early to secure your preferred day and time.

However, the way the instruction is laid out you go through stages of the painting and don't really move on until you master each stage - people can't believe it's my first painting! I have been taking classes at the Atelier School of Art in Royal Oak since last year. I can absolutely say that Todd Burroughs (the wonderful artist, teacher and leader of this atelier) has put together a world-class level art school - while at the same time - keeping it approachable to anyone from any skill level (or even no level). His staff and cadre of instructors are second-to-none. This is the most welcoming art school environment that I have ever encountered. There is no judgement here - only support, guidance and inspiration. From elementary student up to older adults - this art atelier has something of value for you. Highly recommended!
