Tim Smith is an award winning artist, who received his MFA in ‘Illustration as Visual Essay’ from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and a BFA from the University of Delaware, majoring in Illustration and Art History. A few years after college Tim entered graduate studies at SVA in New York and around that time he began to obtain several regular illustration gigs, including those with The New York Times and Village Voice. In the years following grad school, while building an abundance of experience in numerous opportunities as a graphic designer and fine artist, Tim cultivated a wide range of skills and discovered his natural gift of mentoring others in encouraging their creative growth through various means of image making. With his family, Tim ultimately landed in Michigan where his accomplishments as a painter has earned him recognition, with selections and acceptance of his art into juried regional and nationally curated gallery exhibits, drawing acclaim for his technical achievements.
